Congress Leader Emphasizes Non-Political Nature of Interaction, Extends Wedding Invitation
Hyderabad – Congress leader YS Sharmila emphasized that her recent meeting with TDP president Chandrababu Naidu should not be politicized. Sharmila, who recently joined the Congress, visited Naidu at his Jubilee Hills residence to formally invite him to her son YS Raja Reddy’s wedding scheduled for February 17, 2024. During a media interaction, Sharmila clarified that the meeting focused on the wedding invitation, and no political discussions took place. She shared, “We only exchanged pleasantries, and Naidu spoke about his good relations with my father, former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR).”
Responding to queries about sending gifts to Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh during Christmas, Sharmila explained that the gesture extended beyond political affiliations. She mentioned sending gifts to various political figures, including KT Rama Rao, Harish Rao, Kavitha, and others. Sharmila highlighted Lokesh’s acknowledgment of the gifts through a tweet.
Sharmila emphasized the concept of life beyond politics, characterizing it as a service to the people. She acknowledged that disagreements may arise in the course of public service, but her intention in sending cakes to political figures during Christmas was to foster a friendly atmosphere in politics.
The Congress leader underscored that not every action should be linked to politics, citing her broad invitation list for her son’s wedding. She clarified the non-political nature of the invitation extended to Chandrababu Naidu, stating, “Chandrababu is the leader of the Telugu Desam Party. I am a Congress leader. I will not have any political relations. Even Rajasekhara Reddy has invited Naidu to my wedding. This is not strange at all.”
Expressing her commitment to the Congress, Sharmila pledged to work faithfully in any role assigned to her. Regarding the possibility of Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister, she expressed optimism, anticipating positive developments for the country. Sharmila cited the potential decrease in communal violence as a reason for YSR’s endorsement of Rahul Gandhi and reiterated her alignment with the Congress with similar intentions.
