Hyderabad: The Congress party has set the application fee for those aspiring to contest the upcoming Assembly elections at Rs. 50,000. However, for candidates from the SC and ST communities, the fee has been fixed at Rs. 25,000. This non-refundable application fee will contribute to the party’s activities, as explained by TPCC President A Revanth Reddy during the official launch of application issuance on Friday.
Revanth Reddy informed the media that applications will be accepted until the following Friday. He clarified that if anyone joins the party and expresses interest in a ticket after that deadline, the matter will be taken up by the Political Affairs Committee for consideration. He emphasized that any party member, regardless of seniority, who wishes to contest the elections must submit an application.
The selection of candidates will be based on their potential to win, rather than on other factors. Revanth Reddy urged people not to give credence to media reports claiming that candidate selections have already been finalized. He requested the media to avoid misleading party activists.
A comprehensive evaluation process will be conducted, including surveys to assess the strengths and weaknesses of applicants, as well as their social standing. This assessment will culminate in a report submitted to the Screening Committee, which will then present its findings to the Central Election Committee for the final candidate selection.
Revanth Reddy warned that, should Congress come into power, officers who wrongly target party workers with false cases will not be spared. He alleged that a ‘Red Diary’ is being maintained to document the names of officials favoring the ruling party. Additionally, he accused BRS leaders of orchestrating deceptive dramas in the recent Kokapet land auction, creating a false sense of boom with inflated bids of up to Rs. 100 crore per acre.
