YS Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, expressed her frustration with the Andhra Pradesh government, accusing Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s administration of fearing the Congress party. Sharmila’s convoy was halted by the police during a rally ahead of her assumption of the Congress party’s presidency. The interruption led to protests by Congress leaders, who criticized CM Jagan’s government. Despite the delay, Sharmila decided to proceed until the convoy caught up, eventually leading to a discussion with the police and permission for the rally to continue.
Expressing her dismay, Sharmila questioned the necessity of the halt, citing proper permissions for the rally and criticizing what she termed as dictatorial rule in Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada Police Commissioner, KR Tata, responded, stating that the convoy faced no issues, and the police redirected vehicles to clear traffic. He emphasized that there was no deliberate attempt to stop the convoy.
