SECUNDERABAD: With great fervor and respect, ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ was commemorated at the ‘Veerula Sainik Smarak’ on Wednesday, organized by the Telangana and Andhra Sub Area headquarters. This special day, named after the successful Operation Vijay, marks India’s triumph in regaining control of high outposts that were previously lost to Pakistani intruders during the Kargil war in 1999. Since then, the nation celebrates this day every year to pay homage to the brave heroes of the Kargil war.
A nationwide commemoration witnessed a poignant wreath-laying ceremony held at the Army Parade Ground in Secunderabad. The event saw the participation of the military band and officers and soldiers, all dressed in full ceremonial attire adorned with glittering medals, as they paid their heartfelt tribute to the courageous souls who sacrificed their lives in defense of the Republic.

Major General Rakesh Manocha, General Officer Commanding, led the ceremony by offering floral tributes to the war heroes. The event commenced with grand fanfare, and the junior-most soldier initiated the wreath-laying, followed by other senior officers from the Station who also paid their respects.
The commemoration of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ holds significant importance, as it serves as a reminder of the indomitable spirit and valor displayed by our armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
