HYDERABAD: An extensive fire erupted on the fifth floor of Tapadia’s Maruti Infinity Mall in Chandanagar on Saturday, resulting in the destruction of three out of five screens within the complex. The incident occurred during the early hours, but fortunately, no casualties were reported as the fire brigade swiftly intervened, deploying four fire tenders to combat the blaze.
The incident unfolded around 6 am when the control room received a distress call regarding visible smoke emanating from Tapadia Mall in Chandanagar. Promptly responding to the alert, teams from Disaster Response and Fire Services rushed to the scene. Fire officials revealed that the fire rapidly spread across three screens, sparing the first and fifth floors. The immediate action of four fire brigades successfully curtailed the fire’s advance, preventing its extension to the sixth and seventh floors of the mall.
Amid inquiries about the mall’s compliance with safety regulations, fire officials clarified that the building possessed the necessary permissions and was equipped with fire safety apparatus. However, they indicated that the absence of operational staff contributed to the rapid propagation of the flames across all screens. The precise cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Serilingampally Zonal Commissioner, Srinivas Reddy, diligently monitored the situation to ensure effective response and containment of the incident.
