Hyderabad- Marut Drones, a leading drone manufacturer in India, has delivered the nation’s first-ever custom drones designed for mineral exploration to the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC). This collaboration signifies a significant leap forward in the field of mining operations, introducing cutting-edge technology to enhance precision in mineral exploration and mapping for sustainable mining practices.
The two customized Octacopter drones provided by Marut Drones to NMDC are equipped with advanced sensors, including Magnetometer, Hyperspectral, and Lidar. These drones, a first-of-its-kind in India, mark a historic milestone in the country’s foray into drone-based mineral exploration. The innovative features of Marut Drones’ Mineral Exploration Drone, such as its coaxial design for stability and precise maneuverability, promise to revolutionize the approach to mineral exploration.

The introduction of drone-based mineral exploration aims to transform traditional methods, particularly in prospecting for critical minerals like lithium, copper, gold, diamond, rare earth elements, and other essential minerals. The drones are not only designed to make magnetic surveys five times faster but also ten times more cost-effective compared to conventional methods.
NMDC is taking the lead in embracing this new era of mineral exploration by utilizing Marut Drones’ groundbreaking technology. The drones are calibrated and manufactured by Marut Drones and play a pivotal role in NMDC’s foray into drone-based hyperspectral magnetic exploration, a method being initiated for the first time. The flight plans are determined through mission planning, and hyperspectral survey data are processed using advanced software by NMDC.
Drone-based magnetic surveying, another innovative approach, involves calibrated drones, mission planning, and the use of Geometrics Magarrow Magnetometer for data acquisition. The acquired data is then processed using Geometrics and Geosoft Oasis Montage software by NMDC.
