ISRO Chairman Encourages IIT-H Graduates to Shape the Nation’s Future

In a motivating address during the 12th convocation ceremony at the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H), S. Somnath, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Secretary of the Department of Space, urged graduating students to actively participate in the nation-building process. The ceremony took place on the sprawling campus in Kandi, Sangareddy district, on Saturday.

Emphasizing the significance of this milestone in their lives, Somnath encouraged the young graduates to approach their future endeavors with passion and unwavering commitment. He advised them to embrace leadership qualities and prepare themselves for the inevitable setbacks that accompany the path to success. Stressing the importance of determination, he insisted that nothing short of excellence would suffice in their pursuits.

Acknowledging the remarkable growth in technology and its profound impact on society, Somnath highlighted the imperative focus on life extension. He asserted that innovation and technology have the potential to reshape the destiny of the nation. In a thought-provoking statement, he shared his belief that the day when humans integrate seamlessly with machines and control them through their thoughts is rapidly approaching.

During his address, Somnath also shed light on recent ISRO explorations and elucidated the harmonious collaboration among different wings of the organization. This demonstration of teamwork and synergy, he explained, enables ISRO to achieve great heights in the field of space research and exploration.

B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the IIT-H Board of Governors, encouraged the graduating students to learn from illustrious individuals such as N.R. Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, Sunder Pichai, CEO of Google, and Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys. Reddy emphasized the importance of collaboration, highlighting that technology alone is insufficient to bring about meaningful change. He also underscored the value of lifelong learning, emphasizing that it should never be underestimated.

B.S. Murty, Director of IIT-H, provided insights into the institute’s journey thus far, revealing that its student strength is set to reach 5,000 by August of this year. The director expressed pride in the institution’s progress and achievements, while looking forward to further growth and excellence.
