Hyderabad: GHMC (The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) has come up with a new initiative for addressing the issue after attempting various strategies for eliminating the Garbage Vulnerable Points in the Hyderabad City.
GHMC places 935 staff persons in sanitary department and handled the responsibility to keep the places clean after identified the total of 2,451 GVP’s across the Hyderabad.
GHMC civic body decided to impose penalties on the staff in sanitary department who fail the assigned work in points of the garbage. And also decided to know the status of GVPs through mobile app everyday morning 8:30 am to 9 am through uploading by staff.
Related Iniatives will be taking up including IEC-Information, Education and Communication campaign, some 1000 ltr capacity bins are setting at some selected commercial establishments and there will be penalties on littering public places in commercial establishments.

In 30 circles 292 Swachha Sathis are appointed by GHMC and each Swachha Sathi monitoring around 10 GVPs. Alternatively planning to set exclusive street vending zones in the different places in the entire Hyderabad City to keep the city clean.
The GHMC has set timings for lifting the Garbage at GVP, for successful planning of the GVP elimination. The Concessionaire who is the GHMC staff or Hyderabad Integrated MSW Ltd for the Integrated Municipal Solid waste Management Project or Swachh Auto Tippersust ensure that the GVP is clean before 9 clock in the morning.
According to the statement, GHMC official said, “If there is a delay in lifting the Garbage, private vehicles will do the deployment and the charges will be collected from the SAT owners or Agencies who is responsible for clearing it.”
ASCI – Administrative Staff College of India are involved in the suggestions to eliminate the GVPs after assessing the root cause and gaps in infrastructure for GVPs through a study that covered several commercial and also in residential areas.
