HYDERABAD: As part of the ‘Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavam’ festivities, the Telangana Government has exciting news. The famous Oscar-winning movie “Gandhi,” directed by Richard Attenborough, will be shown for free on 582 screens all across the state. You can catch this special screening from August 14 to August 24, 2023. The state’s Cinematography Minister, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, shared this announcement on Wednesday. He also mentioned that special arrangements will be made for school children to watch the movie and they will be safely taken to and from the screenings. The minister encouraged different departments like theatres, education, and transportation to work together to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Srinivas Yadav reminded everyone that the movie “Gandhi” was successfully shown during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and many people watched and enjoyed it. He added that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wants the Diamond Jubilee to be a truly memorable event. So, showing “Gandhi,” which tells the inspiring story of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, is a perfect way to honor this occasion.
The meeting where this announcement was made was attended by Anilkumar Kurmachalam, Chairman of the Film Development Corporation, Sunil Narang, President of the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce, and Dil Raju, President and Producer of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. This exciting event aims to bring people together and celebrate the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi in a meaningful way.
