Tragedy struck late at night in Jogulamba Gadwal district near Tenth Police Battalion Beechupally, where a private travel bus en route from Hyderabad to Chittoor overturned and caught fire, resulting in the death of a female passenger. The Volvo bus, carrying an estimated 40-50 passengers, had crossed Beechupally before the accident occurred near the Tenth Battalion of Itikyala Mandal, Allampur Constituency. While over 30 passengers managed to escape safely, the bus caught fire during the incident.
Prompt response from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) staff and the police ensured the safe evacuation of more than 30 passengers. Tragically, one female passenger lost her life in the fire as her hand got trapped, preventing her escape. Although some survivors sustained minor injuries, two individuals remain in critical condition.
NHAI patrol staff and law enforcement agencies swiftly arrived at the scene, displaying commendable efforts in rescuing passengers from the blazing bus. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by road accidents, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to enhance safety measures on our highways.
