Hyderabad: In response to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) severe rainfall forecast for Telangana state, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed State Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy on Tuesday to declare two-day holidays, starting tomorrow, to ensure public safety. The IMD issued Orange and Red alerts for the state, predicting heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours.
With the city witnessing continuous downpours, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued a stern advisory to residents, urging them to remain indoors and avoid any unnecessary outdoor activities during this period.
The decision to grant holidays comes as a precautionary measure to mitigate potential risks posed by the heavy rains. Chief Minister Rao emphasized the need for swift action and requested Minister Reddy to issue the holiday orders promptly.
Telangana residents are urged to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this challenging weather event. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary assistance to affected areas.
