Arnab Goswami, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, has issued an unconditional apology before the Delhi High Court in a 2016 contempt case filed by former Executive Vice Chairman of TERI, RK Pachauri, and others. The case accused Goswami and others of “fragrant and willful disobedience” of the court’s previous orders that restricted them from publishing specific claims against Pachauri.
Arnab Goswami, who was associated with Times Now at the time, faced the filing of the case in 2016. In his affidavit, Goswami expressed his apology to the Hon’ble Court and requested that it graciously accept his apology and bring an end to the ongoing proceedings against him Goswami’s response also emphasized his adherence to the law and portrayed himself as a law-abiding and respected citizen of the country who holds all courts in high esteem. In his clarification, he emphasized that he did not deliberately intend to disobey the court’s orders and asserted that he carried out the alleged broadcasts in good faith, believing that they did not violate the court’s order issued on February 18, 2015, in C.S. (OS) 425 of 2015.
